The Business Problem

Raynesway, a Balfour Beatty company, was using a combination of paper, Windows NT file storage and Outlook folders to store documents. This was very impractical, as employees had no easy, single point of access to the most up-to-date business information. It was intended to set up a document control system on their intranet. They had highlighted SharePoint as a potential technology that could resolve their problems but were unsure what it could offer.

Our Solution

Systeme Ouvert was able to offer advice and cosultation on SharePoint's capabilities and how these features suited both their short-term and long-term business requirements. Part of the work was to implement a demonstration installation of SharePoint.

The Value

The consultancy demonstrated conclusively that SharePoint technology could be used for the document management system across the intranet. Raynesway was then able to make an informaed decision to proceed with the full implementation, with a view to expand the solution across a group of Balfour Beatty companies.
